As the holiday season approaches we have many things planned out for our little ones this year. So we want to outline a few things we will be working on and may need parents assistance in getting a few items As you know most of our programs rely on volunteers to help out because without the parents and volunteer involvement we would never be able to successfully get things off the ground.
We start in October with the halloween event we have. Ms. Rosie (our program director) has planned for the kids to have a costume content. We will need someone to sign up to bring snacks and other small non candy items. Please note that our costumes should be family friendly. Since our theme this year is super heroes the staff will be dressing up in the character of their choice. Here are some ideas for you to dress the kiddos up, this list is something we came across and is from last year. http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/holidays/halloween-ideas/g385/popular-kids-halloween-costumes/
Next holiday is Thanksgiving and this one will be super fun and exiting for the kids and parents because we get to have the children serve the parents in a lunch style setting. We will be decking things out decorating and creating all the art work with the kids. They each will have special projects where they make a craft turnkey out of paper plates and prepare a song for the thanksgiving program and prayer before lunch. Please make sure you set time to visit after the program is over, the kids will be showcasing thief artwork.
Last but not least Christmas time!! This year we have so many new faces that we have a special treat planned. There will be musical preformed by the kids. The program will be broken down by age group and calls and each group will have the opportunity to get on stage for their performance. This is the song we have been practicing all year for and the kids get super exited. This year we decided to allow parents and grandparents to stop and enjoy the festivities.
Lunch will be catered so there is no need to worry about that but we will be requesting some volunteers so please make sure to sign up. We will start decorating for Christmas right after turkey day so if any of the parents want to stop by the front office to sign up for hours they are more than welcomed to. We usually dec the halls with stocking the kids make and then out annual Christmas light show. This year we got the lighting and service donated by Houston Christmas Lights Installation Pros. We are extremely thankful for this and are really looking forward to our amazon Christmas lighting show.
Lastly I want to remind the parents that if you have any special arrangements that need to me made please, please, please try and get that to us as soon as you can so that we can plan accordingly. For those of who emailed and are new to the program here is a video from a few years back when we had a full show 🙂
